Our goal: To draw worldwide attention to Roosje Glaser's Dutch war story and to the dangers of racism, anti-Semitism and discrimination as well as the importance of freedom, equal rights and democracy everywhere. Based on this objective, four themes that serve as a framework for the activities of the foundation were formulated.
Spreading Roosje’s life story, both in the Netherlands and abroad by means of book publications, teaching packages, lectures, plays, exhibitions, films, documentaries etc., and so raise topics in order to start and support a societal discussion or to broaden the attention for social rather than political topics.
The principle of equality and the prohibition of discrimination are fundamental principles of our constitutional order. Roosje Glaser's life story focuses on the process of unequal treatment and the removal of civil rights. Thus, the principle of equal rights is an important theme in the realization of the mission of the foundation and it contributes to the fight against discrimination on the basis of religion or race.
In the thinking process, which underlies racism, anti-Semitism and discrimination, identity plays an important role. Awareness forms the basis of positive and negative aspects which can contribute to improve the relationship between (groups of) citizens in a plural society.
Active citizenship, citizens who feel responsible for and are actively involved in the society in which they live, forms a strong defense against prejudice, exclusion and extremism and contributes to a strong democracy. The foundation develops programmes and products around Roosje Glaser’s life story in the context of the aforementioned four themes.
In addition to the preservation, management and access to Roosje's archive, the foundation has two other main tasks on the basis of the above themes: to provide information and education.
